I wanted to say a few things about how my year went and what I want to do in the future, and this seems like the best place to do that.
Firstly, I am proud of myself on a personal and academic level.
I have pretty bad anxiety most of the time, and usually struggle to meet new people, but something changed for me this year. I'm finally able to do presentations and talk to new people without feeling like I'm going to lock up, which is a huge win for me!
I've also learned a lot academically. I'm currently in my second year as a game design major, and it has really helped me hone in on my professional goals. I'm not going to get too deep with this, but I learned that I love systems and mechanics and strive to do more with that! Hopefully the industry stops imploding eventually.
I didn't do as much personal creative works as I really wanted to this year. I think I only made a few drawings for myself this year, as most of my energy has been going towards schoolwork. I need to give myself more time to just make art and calm down next semester.
Goals
I want to be able to talk to more people in general in the future! I need to be brave and stop being afraid of conversations with people I don't know, as it's holding me back from meeting a lot of good people. I also want to have more meaningful conversations and experiences with the people I already know.
For digital art, I want to work on my form, colours, and rendering next year. I find that I'm usually afraid of doing details because I'm concerned they'll look off, but I can really only get better if I work on it. Such is life. I also want to draw more FFXIV art! I love most of the characters in it, and I also want to draw my wols Aurlaux and Elya way more.
I also want to try a bunch of new things next year. I've always wanted to try streaming, but fear has been holding me back. I can't keep letting that hold me back, I need to just try it one day and keep at it until I either decide it isn't for me or that it's enjoyable. I also want to use my sewing machine more often. Maybe make some article of clothing? It would be cool to be able to show something for my effort.
